On: 'The American Man at Age Ten' by Susan Orlean
I feel a little emasculated after that one. In this piece its almost as if Orlean projects the stereotypical ten year old into the shoes on a grown an perhaps in her own life. Comparing adult social behaviors with that of an underdeveloped age group gives the message some perspective on why men don't understand women. Seem slightly sexist to imply that women understand men more than men understnd women but still its clear that this is the odd brotherhood and altered social skills that the avrage 10 year old is the most probable ground for diffecult relationships down the road. The vein that i feel iv'e tapped in this story is that aldult men are as competent as their younger parallels.
